RCS messages diversify the way companies communicate in SmartDialog. An “extended SMS” or RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging channel is being introduced. RCS messages can now be used in Finland on Google phones with Elisa and DNA subscriptions. The offer will be extended to other Finnish operators in the near future. RCS support is also coming to Apple phones in Finland, According to a press release issued by Apple on 10.6.2024.
RCS messaging uses a branded business profile. This works on the same principle as WhatsApp, where messages are sent to consumers with your own business identity. RCS messaging is more versatile and visual than text messaging. Messages can be long and include images, videos, and other data, such as product cards and card carousels.

Consumers can be directed via messages across all channels to websites where opinions and feedback can be requested or orders collected. In WhatsApp and RCS messaging, recipients can also be offered direct quick reply and action buttons, making it easy to initiate comments, contacts, orders, or calendar entries.
If the customer cannot receive RCS messages, an SMS message can be used as a back-up. In this case, messages that are not delivered as RCS messages can be sent automatically as SMS messages if desired, taking into account the limitations of the SMS content. The company can also check who has received the RCS message after the RCS has been sent, and easily pick up the remaining contacts to reach by other means, such as SMS or WhatsApp.
