{"id":35292,"date":"2026-04-21T08:27:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T08:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arenainteractive.fi\/spain-requires-registration-of-the-sender-id\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T13:56:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T13:56:37","slug":"spain-requires-registration-of-the-sender-id","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arenainteractive.fi\/en\/spain-requires-registration-of-the-sender-id\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain requires registration of the sender ID"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spanish Communications Authority ( <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnmc.es\/en\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cnmc.es\/en\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNMC)<\/a> is introducing a new SMS Sender ID register for all SMS, MMS and RCS messages sent to Spanish numbers (+34).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation is based on the Ministerial Order <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/doc.php?id=BOE-A-2025-2870\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/doc.php?id=BOE-A-2025-2870\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TDF\/149\/2025<\/a> and the proposal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnmc.es\/sites\/default\/files\/editor_contenidos\/Telecomunicaciones\/Consultas%20p%C3%BAblicas\/1_CIR_DTSA_010_25_Proyecto%20Circular%20Registro%20Alias.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cnmc.es\/sites\/default\/files\/editor_contenidos\/Telecomunicaciones\/Consultas%20p%C3%BAblicas\/1_CIR_DTSA_010_25_Proyecto%20Circular%20Registro%20Alias.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Circular X\/2026,<\/a> which defines the use of SMS Sender ID.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new rules are due to enter into force from 15.9.2026. After that date, messages sent with non-registered sender information will be blocked. This applies to SMS, MMS and RCS messages sent to Spanish numbers, country code +34.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will change?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Current situation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The alphanumeric sender IDs (alias \/ SenderID) can be used without registration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New regulation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All alphanumeric call signs must be registered and approved before use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unregistered sender IDs are blocked by operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who is affected by the change?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All companies (Spanish and international) that send SMS, MMS or RCS messages to Spanish numbers (+34).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sender name protection requirements<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SMS \/ MMS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Length: 3-11 characters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allowed signs:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Letters (a-z, A-Z, \u00f1, \u00e7)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Numbers (0-9)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special characters: @ &amp; &#8211; . +<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Not allowed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spaces at the beginning\/end or consecutively<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several special characters (e.g. #, %, (), ,, \/, :, ;, , =, \u00a1, !, \u00bf, ?, [], \u20ac.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just the numbers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RCS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The sender ID must be clearly associated:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>to the brand<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the name of the company<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to the domain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Not allowed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Just the numbers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unclear or misleading names<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your company sends or plans to send messages to Spain:  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"mailto:support@arenainteractive.fi\"><strong>Contact us<\/strong> <strong>our customer service<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spanish Communications Authority ( CNMC) is introducing a new SMS Sender ID register for all SMS, MMS and RCS messages sent to Spanish numbers (+34).
