Did you know that you can send WhatsApp messages on behalf of your organization to the consumer WhatsApp app and communicate in a similar way to what you can do with text messages?<\/span><\/span> You establish your organization\u2019s presence on WhatsApp, meaning you appear under your organization\u2019s name and brand.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Messaging can be one-way or two-way and includes, for example, links, images, videos, and action buttons.<\/span><\/span> It is also worth noting that the WhatsApp app here refers to the standard WhatsApp app that we all use.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The major advantage of WhatsApp is that it allows for free-form conversations in text format, but also with voice messages, images, and videos.<\/span><\/span> For example, customers can be offered the opportunity to make an appointment or place an order directly from a WhatsApp message by pressing the action button.<\/span><\/span> Bidirectionality, i.e., replying to a message, can therefore be implemented very straightforwardly and easily.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

From an organization’s perspective, the WhatsApp channel can act as both an outbound and inbound channel.<\/span><\/span> Messages can be sent and replies can be received.<\/span><\/span> Customers can also contact the organization via a WhatsApp business account by sending a message to the organization’s WhatsApp number, and the customer can be replied to.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

WhatsApp is excellent as an inbound channel for customer service because customers can send your organization a message and wait for a response.<\/span><\/span> Your organization’s response will be sent to the customer’s WhatsApp phone when customer service has had time to address the matter.<\/span><\/span> This makes it very different from online chats or telephone service, which are situational.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

In practice, WhatsApp communications are subject to the same legal requirements as all customer communications.<\/span><\/span> WhatsApp has also established a few of its own rules for managing communications.<\/span><\/span> The purpose of these is to keep organizations’ WhatsApp communications as relevant as possible from the customer’s perspective.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

One example of this is that sending a message must be done using a pre-approved message template.<\/span><\/span> The message template can contain variables such as the customer’s name, product, or code.<\/span><\/span> If the message dialogue continues from here on, it can be completely free-form.<\/span><\/span> When a customer contacts the organization, the communication can be completely free-form from the beginning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>
